Success turned inside out!

My last post was a while ago as I have been ill and not able to be here to continue, but now I'm back. Ok when we left off, I said I was going to be exploring people that fit My newly found definition of authentic success. Among that list would be my grandparents, they worked hard all their lives to teach us that a good work ethic was priceless. My grandfather (dad's dad) was a carpenter and my mom's dad was a dairy farmer. They instilled in us to always evaluate ourselves before we try and evaluate someone else. Hypocrisy was not an option. This teaching was so strong and ran so deep it was passed on to my parents and they are the next successful people to me that I will discuss,as a child we never had a lot of money, but at the same time, we didn't really go without either. Our family went on family vacation to Disneyland and that was a great memory! Other great memories my mom and dad created for their four girls was of regular family trail rides on horseback. My parents are successful in my mind because they didn't get caught up in raising us to believe that 'buying' happiness for your children is the right thing to do. We had quite a few memories which will last much longer than any toy or piece of clothing anytime. They taught us the value of having a relationship with God. This has been by far the most valuable lesson that I took from childhood, it is this relationship with God that has brought me through many, many challenges in my adult life. My parents now are much better off financially today, but I believe that is a result of their pursuit of personal growth and never giving up on that issue.
